A banquet of records
A banquet of records
The 7th edition of the guest banquet "Dresden is(s)t bunt" took place on September 4, 2023 in the time from 4 to 8 pm on the Augustusbrücke and the Schloßplatz. 120 cultural partners and 87 sponsors participated. 270 tables were booked. This was a new record.
If we measure the popularity of the Gastmahl in Dresden, we find that beer tables are 2.20 meters long. All the tables that we needed on September 4, placed in a line, extend to a length of almost 600 meters.
Not so good to measure, the better to hear, smell, see and taste, was the offer of our cultural partners. They brought food and drink, music and theater, games and talks. Among others, Staatsschauspiel Dresden, Deutsches Hygiene-Museum and Semperoper Dresden were present, as well as many initiatives of welcome culture and intercultural associations such as the Iranian Cultural Association of Saxony, the Chinese-German Center or the Venezuelan community of Dresden.
The number of companies and institutions that participated in the banquet as sponsors and supported the festival had also increased compared to previous years. The TU Dresden was represented by ten faculties and research institutions, almost all Saxon state ministries participated and global companies were just as much part of the party as medium-sized businesses.
Why does Dresden need the banquet for everyone?
Diversity is good for every city. More than other cities, Dresden needs to live and show diversity. Dresden needs events like "Dresden is(s)t bunt". We are concerned with living together, with humanity, with humanity and good neighborliness. Companies, Dresden's cultural institutions and associations see it the same way. And we all know that we are doing city marketing in an honorary capacity. We like to do that. Living open-mindedness is a very relaxed form of demonstration.
The motto of this year's guest banquet was "Dresden shares" (#Dresdenteilt). The good message of sharing is that it makes no one poorer. With the Gastmahl we celebrate this richness. Many thanks to all who participated this year in this celebration of sharing.
